What’s In My Hospital Bag

It’s The Final Count Down!

It’s that time in my pregnancy when I need to have my hospital bag ready to go for labor & delivery. If you’re a mom-to-be entering into her last trimester it’s probably a good idea to have a bag packed and ready to go, just in case. You never know when your baby will make its debut! I am currently 36 weeks pregnant and can confidently say, we are all PACKED! I have asked so many of my mommy friends what I will need when it’s time to meet baby girl, so I wanted to share with you what I packed in my hospital bag.

I’ve been told the hospital will give me a lot of what I will need during my stay. Other than what the hospital provides, I wanted to pack things that would make me feel more comfortable and that was absolutely necessary.

For Mommy

  1. Duffle bag- I am bringing my Fawn Design duffle bag for my husband to pack his clothes, toiletries, and other items in. I love the interior/exterior pockets, vegan leather material, and gold feet at the bottom to keep the bag off the ground (especially in the hospital).

  2. A small roller suitcase- This is for baby and me! The BEST carry-on I have ever owned is by Beis! I love all the different well-thought-out compartments and sleek styles.

  3. Nursing pajamas- I’m bringing 3 dark-colored nursing nightgowns. Dark colors are best due to how messy things can get depending on your delivery. Nightgown #1. Nightgown #2. Nightgown #3. You never know how long you will stay in the hospital. I have had friends stay for 24 hours and others stay for almost 4 days.

  4. Fuzzy socks with grips-To keep my feet warm and cozy as I recover, I am bringing these fuzzy socks with grips.

  5. Nursing & sleep bras- I’m packing two nursing sleep bras to wear under my nightgowns at night or even just with my robe during the day.

  6. Robe- I’m bringing this affordable and comfortable black robe from Amazon so I can cover myself up for warmth while I’m breastfeeding.

  7. Slippers- I’m bringing these pink and warm slippers that are less than $20!

  8. Nursing tank top-One nursing tank top from Motherhood Maternity and here is another less expensive but great option for a nursing tank top and it’s from Target. I actually own both and love them equally!

  9. Shower sandals-I bought a pair for myself and for my husband since we are both germaphobes!

  10. Going home outfit- I’m wearing this black loose and super comfy maxi dress by PinkBlush Maternity to go home. I’ll most likely be wearing a diaper LOL and not wanting anything too tight against my tummy if I were to have a C-section.

  11. Comfy shoes- I’ll be wearing my Birkenstocks to and from the hospital since they’re the most comfortable and easiest to put on. Another less expensive option is these Funky Monkey sandals from Amazon.

  12. High-waisted recovery underwear-I am bringing a few options for underwear I can wear home. I don’t know what to expect and how my lady parts will be feeling so I will rather be prepared with options. However, I may just end up wearing my diaper I packed! LOL, here are two of my favorite comfortable undie options for recovery high-waisted undies from Kindred Bravely and also these high-waisted undies from Amazon. I wore both brands throughout my entire pregnancy. Lastly, one pair of seamless mesh knit underwear. These mesh knit undies are very similar to what the hospital will provide. Frida Mom also has amazing disposable postpartum underwear too!

  13. Nursing bras-I am bringing this nursing bra to go home in which is super supportive especially for bigger busted women. I also love this nursing bra and will bring it to the hospital to wear during my stay. I wore both brands throughout my entire pregnancy!

  14. Disposable nursing pads- Packing these disposable nursing pads for my stay.

  15. Nipple cream-I’m packing an all-natural nipple cream since I plan to breastfeed.

  16. Lip mask/chapstick- This is my favorite lip mask that will give you all the moisture your dry lips will ever need. Self-care baby!

  17. Toiletries-toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, hairbrush, face wash, deodorant, and lotion.

  18. Phone chargers and extension cord outlet- Phone chargers are a must and so is a reliable extension cord! We do not want to run out of battery especially since we will be wanting to update family and friends. We also take all our photos and videos via iPhone!

  19. Water bottle- My Swell water bottle goes everywhere with me and the hospital recommends you bring your own bottle.

  20. Snacks

  21. Photo ID

  22. Insurance card and list of medications

Extra’s

  1. The “Ever Need” from Sly Beauty-I am packing all my cosmetic essentials in this incredibly functional and stylish cosmetic bag.

  2. Mints-With all the deep breathing during labor, I want to make sure my mouth doesn’t dry out. I’m packing these mints for not only the dry mouth but for fresh breath.

  3. Sleeping eye mask- I am bringing this sleeping eye mask so I can get some shut-eye even while nurses are coming in and out of my room.

  4. Lavender essential oil- I will be using lavender essential oil to keep me in a calm and relaxed state of mind during labor/delivery.

  5. Perineal spray bottle- The hospital will provide you with one but all my friends swear by this perineal spray bottle by Frida Mom.

  6. Scrunchies/headband- I love oversized scrunchies to hold up my thick and long hair! I also will be bringing this leopard print headband to keep my hair back and somewhat picture-ready as we head home with our new bundle of joy!

  7. Portable speaker- I am bringing this Bose portable speaker to play different playlists for labor I created on Spotify.

  8. White noise- I have been sleeping with white noise my enter pregnancy and will definitely be bringing this portable white noise maker for baby and me!

  9. 2 bath towels- For myself and my husband since the ones at the hospital are not that great.

  10. 2 colored pillows-I hear the hospital ones stink! The hospital asks that you bring colored pillows so they don’t get mixed up with their white pillows. I need hubby to be comfortable as well as he will be sleeping on a sleeper sofa.
